Canadian-Based Silcotech Expands York County, South Carolina, Manufacturing Plant
11/16/2015
Established in 1984, Silcotech produces specialized silicone components for a number of industries, including medical, healthcare, automotive, packaging, consumer markets and consumer electronics. In addition to its Canadian headquarters and new South Carolina facility, the company also operates a plant in India, boasting a truly global footprint.
In production since January 2015, Silcotech’s York County facility, which represents the company’s first in the U.S., produces precision silicone parts. This additional $2.5 million investment adds to an initial $3.5 million investment, which the company announced in August 2013. Currently, approximately 42 workers are employed at the facility.
“Silcotech is a global leader in liquid injection molding for the medical, healthcare, automotive, packaging, consumer electronics and consumer markets since 1984. Silcotech achieves and maintains this position through a firm commitment in growing the potential of each individual working for the company,” said Silcotech Vice President Isolde Boettger.
“We were thrilled when Silcotech announced its decision to establish operations in South Carolina back in 2013, and we couldn’t be more excited to see that they have already decided to invest an additional $2.5 million in York County. This new investment is a testament to the company’s commitment to our state and its people, and that really is a reason to celebrate,” said Governor Nikki Haley.
