Area Development Online News Desk (11/02/2009)
Insurance provider Auto-Owners Insurance Company will invest $105.3 million to expand its operations in Delta Township, Michigan, according to the Lansing State Journal. The company plans to create 800 new full-time jobs over the next 10 years; the jobs will pay an average annual salary of more than $40,000. Auto-Owners plans to build a new headquarters facility on 140 acres near the company's existing site; construction is expected to begin after the current tenant's lease at the site ends in 2012. The state is providing $23.1 million in tax credits, and the township is considering a 100 percent tax abatement over a 15-year period; incentives are contingent on job creation.
