Cummins To Add Nearly 200 Jobs At Indiana Plant Building New Engine
11/03/2011
President Tom Linebarger said production of the innovative 16-cylinder, 4,000-horsepower engine is expected to start next year and Cummins will build to full production in 2015, according to a Seymour Tribune story. About 200 engineering and production jobs are expected to be added over that time.
Thus far, Cummins has committed 150 engineers to work on the QSK95 project, and invested over $100 million to establish a new production line and world-class test facilities at the Seymour Engine Plant.
"Our new QSK95 represents a landmark in the evolution of the large high-speed diesel engine," said Mark Levett, Cummins VP and President and General Manager-High-Horsepower Business. "[It is] designed with the power and durability to surpass all other high-speed engines while also challenging much larger and higher capital cost, medium-speed engines."
It's anticipated that new engines will sell for about $500,000, reported The Indianapolis Star.
