General Motors Makes Good on Promise, Completing $2 Billion Round of U.S. Manufacturing Investments

On May 10th General Motors Company announced that it would invest about $2 billion in 17 U.S. plants, creating or preserving more than 4,000 jobs throughout the country. Area Development has tracked all developments since then. Almost five months to the day after the original announcement, on October 11th, GM announced a $275 million investment at Ft. Wayne Assembly plant creating or retaining 150 jobs. This announcement represented the completion of the round of manufacturing investments. In total, there were 14 announcements affecting 7 states, 17 plants, creating or retaining 3899 jobs and representing $1.974 billion in investment according to our calculations. Here is how it breaks down:
