Textile Maker's Relocation to Chatham County, NC, Expected to Create 100 Jobs

11/09/2011
Acme-McCrary has announced plans to relocate its warehouse and distribution facilities to a former 387,000-sq.-ft. Jo-Ann Fabrics building in Chatham County, North Carolina. The company will invest about $500,000 in the project and create at least 100 new jobs over the next five years.

Based in Asheboro, North Carolina, Acme-McCrary produces hosiery, socks and shapewear products. Each week, production capability exceeds 110,000 dozen pairs of hosiery and 96,000 pieces of seamless garments.

"In our new location we will consolidate all shipping and distribution facilities as well as relocate all packaging processes into one building," said President Bill Redding.

The Chatham County Board of Commissioners awarded an incentive package to Acme-McCrary designed to reduce the company's county property taxes if it meets job creation and retention goals. Details of the incentives package were not revealed.
