Area Development Editorial Advisor Jonathan Sangster to Serve as Georgia Power’s General Manager of Economic Development

Jonathan Sangster will join Georgia Power as general manager of Economic Development, effective January 7, 2013. Sangster will lead the organization's efforts in business recruitment, expansion and retention, information services, and engineering support. He will also be responsible for the Georgia Resource Center, which is the company's state-of-the-art site selection meeting facility.

Sangster is currently the senior managing director at CBRE Consulting, a nationally recognized business location and site selection firm that has been responsible for more than $3 billion in investments and in excess of 7,000 jobs created.

Sangster began his career at Georgia Power in 1977. While there, he held full-time positions in Power Supply Engineering, Procurement, Training and Educational Services, and Southern Company College. He also served as a Southern Company loaned executive to the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games in the mid-1990s.

Sangster serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Area Development and is a frequent contributor of articles on site selection and facility planning issues. He also has been a frequent speaker at Area Development’s Consultants Forum events over the last seven years.
