Lowe's to Create 600 Jobs at Customer Center Center in New Mexico

12/15/2011
Lowe's has announced plans to open a new customer support center in Albuquerque, NM. Slated to be operational first quarter 2012, the project is expected to create 250 jobs by March and a total of 600 jobs by year-end 2013.

The company plans to invest over $15 million to renovate a leased 65,000-sq.-ft. building which will provide customer care, store/internet sales support, customer repair and related services.

Lowe's is the second-largest home improvement retailer in the world. It operates more than 1,725 stores in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Lowe's VP Don Easterling said Albuquerque was chosen due to its "talented and experienced workforce," availability of a suitable building to house the new operations, and its Mountain time zone location. The region also is an "ideal complement" to the company's customer support center in North Carolina, he added.

Lowe's expansion to Albuquerque reinforces New Mexico as a leader in the service industry, noted Albuquerque Economic Development Chairman Jeff Parker. "This facility will provide outstanding opportunities to the New Mexico workforce."
