Electrolux Locating North American HQ in North Carolina
Area Development Online News Desk (12/16/2009)
Swedish appliance manufacturer Electrolux will invest US$8.3 million to locate a new North American headquarters facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to the North Carolina governor's office. The company, which plans to create 738 jobs over the next five years, will consolidate corporate offices from around the country at the new headquarters. Electrolux currently employs approximately 650 workers in North Carolina, most at a dishwasher manufacturing facility in Kinston. "We are very grateful for the work carried out by the governor and her staff in helping us make our decision to locate in Charlotte," says Kevin Scott, president and CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances North America. "The state, along with the city, county, and local economic development people clearly demonstrated why Charlotte is known as a great place to live and work." The state has awarded Electrolux a grant of up to $1.2 million, contingent on job creation, that must be matched by local governments; additional incentives could provide the company up to $24.83 million over 12 years if investment and job targets are met.
