NIBCO Plans $5.6 Million Expansion In Charlestown, Indiana

12/02/2014
NIBCO, a manufacturer of valves, fittings and flow control products, plans to expand its manufacturing plant, creating up to 40 new jobs by 2017 in Charlestown, Indiana.

The homegrown-Hoosier company will invest $5.6 million to update and equip its current 187,000 square-foot facility in Charlestown. The facility, which will be fully upgraded by 2018, will allow the company to expand manufacturing capacity of its Chemtrol brand of plastic valves and fittings to meet growing demand in the industrial and fire protection markets.

“NIBCO moved to Charlestown in 1996, constructing a new state-of-the-art facility,” said Doug Kieper, General Manager of NIBCO in Charlestown. “Expanding upon its current base utilizes the knowledge and skills already in place and serves as a successful platform for future growth.”

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered NIBCO INC. up to $150,000 in training grants based on the company's job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Charlestown approved additional incentives at the request of One Southern Indiana.

"In today's global economy, Indiana's business environment has all the tools necessary for companies to compete at the highest level," said Eric Doden, President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. "Businesses like NIBCO operating around the world know firsthand that the grass is greenest right here in the Hoosier State, thanks to an elite workforce, robust infrastructure and a tax and regulatory climate that's among the best in the nation."

“We are happy that NIBCO, a longtime employer and community supporter in Charlestown, has chosen to invest in this facility,” said Charlestown Mayor Bob Hall. “The purchase of new equipment coupled with the training being provided will ensure that the employees of NIBCO continue to advance in the company, resulting in opening new job positions and growing the economy of our city and the region.”
