Commonwealth Plans Production Center In Kansas City, Missouri

12/02/2015
Commonwealth, Inc., a full-service third party logistics company specializing in providing public warehousing and contract warehousing solutions, will open a new operation in metro Kansas City, Missouri. The company plans to invest $3.5 million in a 101,567-sq.-ft. facility.

“When the opportunity arose to come to Kansas City I immediately jumped on it. Kansas City has always had a strong logistics sector and I was eager to be a part of it. After touring the area I am very encouraged by the growth potential I see in Kansas City,” said Brent Collins, President/CEO of Commonwealth, Inc.

“The Kansas City operation’s proximity to the interstate highways and local industry is excellent, plus the tax-abatement savings will allow us to be very aggressive. I look forward to partnering with local companies interested in working with a very capable, flexible, and cost-effective 3PL with a proven track record of success. My goal is to set our flag down in Kansas City and grow into one of the area’s premier logistics operators,” said Collins.

Commonwealth’s new facility will be located in the Three Trails Industrial Park at 71 Highway and 87th St. in Kansas City, Missouri. The new Kansas City location will take the company to more than 1.1 million sq. ft. of managed commercial space nationwide, with future on-site growth possible.

“The location of Kansas City in the center of the nation, with several interstate highways and multiple railroad lines, continues to attract enterprising companies in the business of moving goods efficiently.” said Mayor Sly James. “We welcome Commonwealth Inc. to the crossroads of America and wish the firm continued growth and success."

The Kansas City Area Development Council partnered with the following organizations to successfully attract Commonwealth, Inc. to the KC region: The Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri; City of Kansas City, Missouri; Jackson County, Missouri; State of Missouri; NorthPoint Development; Cushman & Wakefield; KCP&L and KC SmartPort.

"Being at the heart of America, Kansas City is a prime spot for logistics operations to locate." said Tim Cowden, President of KCADC. "We are proud to welcome Commonwealth, Inc. as a part of our KC region's future growth."
