Fitness Equipment Manufacturer Adding Jobs, Product Line in Virginia

12/23/2008
Nautilus, Inc., a manufacturer of fitness and exercise products for commercial and personal use, will invest $1.7 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Independence, Virginia, according to the Virginia governor's office. The company expects to create 60 jobs with the project, which will include adding a cardio exercise equipment line. The governor's office says that Virginia won the project over sites in Oregon and China. "Nautilus has had manufacturing operations in Virginia since 1975," says Tim Joyce, a company senior vice president and general manager. "We are pleased to be able to partner with the state and local agencies to expand our presence in Grayson County and bring even more jobs to Virginia." The Washington-headquartered company is the parent to such brands as Nautilus, Bowflex, Schwinn, StairMaster, and Universal. Incentives offered to Nautilus include $150,000 grants from the state as well as training assistance.
