Stryker Corporation Expands Manufacturing Plant In Portage, Michigan
12/28/2016
Stryker Corporation, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies, offers a diverse array of innovative products and services in Orthopaedics, Medical and Surgical, and Neurotechnology and Spine that help improve patient and hospital outcomes.
According to Southwest Michigan First officials, the division is experiencing significant growth and the company needs an expanded facility to support a new corporate campus. The facility will likely feature a customer experience center, functioning showroom, R&D and bio-skills labs, as well as space for sales, marketing and support functions.
As an incentive, the project has been awarded a $1 million Michigan Business Development Program performance based grant. The city of Portage has offered support to the project in the form of property tax abatement, and the Kalamazoo County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority is offering a Brownfield redevelopment incentive.
“In Southwest Michigan, Stryker Corporation is more than a company. It’s a family. I’m so grateful, during this time of year, to see the Stryker family of companies grow by more than 100 people. This local investment speaks to the quality of people, companies and community that call Southwest Michigan home,” said Ron Kitchens, CEO of Southwest Michigan First.
