VELUX Expands Manufacturing Complex In Greenwood, South Carolina

12/08/2016
VELUX, a world leader in skylights and roof window manufacturing, is expanding its production facility at 450 Old Brickyard Road in Greenwood, South Carolina. The company intends to invest $4 million and create 21 new jobs as a result of the expansion.

Celebrating 75 years in business, VELUX provides skylights and roof windows through home centers, building material suppliers, lumberyards and independent door, window and roofing retailers. The company also provides a complete catalog of blinds, electronic accessories, solar panels and shades.

VELUX will be adding a new line of products targeting the industrial and commercial skylight business. Hiring for the new positions is projected to begin in the first quarter of 2017.

As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has committed a $100,000 grant to Greenwood County to be used toward the costs of building upfit.

“Thanks to the high quality of our products and services, the strength of our brand reputation and our outstanding workforce, we have enjoyed great success here in Greenwood since opening our first plant 37 years ago. We considered opening a new manufacturing plant on the West Coast, but we instead chose to make the investment here in Greenwood, where we have enjoyed so much long-term success,” said President of VELUX Greenwood John W. Pillman.

“Any time one of our existing companies succeeds to the point that it is able to grow, it speaks to the competitive business environment and world-class workforce that Team South Carolina has worked so hard to create here. We thank VELUX for their continued commitment to the Greenwood community and look forward to seeing the success they will have here for many years to come,” Governor Nikki Haley said.
