American Insulated Glass Opens Fabrication Complex in Birmingham, Alabama
02/14/2018
This facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including a new commercial Lisec IG line, Hegla cutting table with retrieval system, and a new HHH supported full convection tempering oven-designed to produce the highest quality soft-coat low-e glass offered to the industry.
Billy Blair, CEO of AIG, said, "We expect the Birmingham plant to be fully operational by spring 2018. The financial investment we are making demonstrates our commitment to serving our customers with the most complete offering of commercial and residential glass products, combined with the highest level of quality and service available."
According to company officials, with plants already located in Georgia and Florida, this new location will allow AIG to offer shorter lead times and a broad range of fabricated and stock glass to glazing contractors and millworkers in Alabama and Tennessee, to include servicing the Nashville market. Industry veteran, Chris Gould, will be the General Manager.
Acquired by AV Capital in October 2017, AIG said it is positioned to expand its geographical footprint and service capabilities, both organically and via acquisition. The company specializes in providing high quality insulated, laminated, tempered, and beveled glass to glazing contractors and the millwork industry. Dedicated to serving both commercial and residential end markets, AIG also distributes a full line of mirror, decorative, and other glass products.
