China-Based LiuGong North America Moves To Interim Facility In Katy, Texas

02/18/2014
LiuGong North America, a subsidiary of China-based Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co, is scheduled to move to a larger interim facility at 22220 Merchants Way in Katy, Texas. The new facility will almost triple the amount of space currently housing the company’s operations.

For more than 55 years, LiuGong has been a leader in China’s heavy construction equipment and material handling industries. Accredited with being the leading manufacturer of wheel loaders globally, LiuGong has become one of the fastest growing full-line construction equipment companies in the world.

The company said its move “comes after LiuGong North America announced its most profitable year on record, since the company began operations in the US in 2008.”

“We are in the process of identifying a large tract of land to buy and build a permanent facility to include parts warehouse, training center, shop, paint booth, fabrication and assembly, equipment proving ground, and equipment storage yard. While we are eager to “put a shovel in the ground” for the larger, permanent facility, land acquisition and construction is a longer process. Due to our rapid growth; increased personnel and parts stocking requirements, we needed to make this strategic interim move to support our growing dealer network today,” said Marc Dowdell, LiuGong North America President.

“The Merchants Way facility is brand new construction, which will accommodate parts warehousing, office, and training. It is reflective our growth, investment, and commitment to the North and Central American markets and provides increased capabilities and a more professional environment in supporting our dealers,” says Marc Dowdell.

The LiuGong North America space will feature over 27,000 square feet of warehouse space and close to 8,000 square feet of office space for a combined total of almost 35,000 square feet. The expanded facility will serve to support North America, Mexico and Central America regions.
