PPG Invests $10 Million in Greenville, South Carolina, Coatings Facility
02/20/2019
According to company officials, scheduled for completion in August 2019, the expansion is designed to accommodate increased demand for class A coatings application and value-added services for the automotive and large truck markets. Class A coatings include those used on surfaces that are readily seen or touched by customers, such as hoods and door skins.
“The expansion of the Greenville facility will help us continue to grow with our customers in this important location,” said Jeff Oravitz, PPG Vice President, Coatings Services. “The added capacity for electrocoating, labeling, light assembly, packaging and shipping, along with other value-added solutions, will be invaluable to our customers looking to streamline processes, save time and reduce logistics costs. PPG is continuing to offer multiple one-stop services to deliver superior solutions to our customers.”
The Greenville plant opened in 2013 as a dedicated coatings services facility for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and tier one suppliers. In 2015, the facility was expanded to include aftermarket packaging and hem sealing services, the process used in the automotive industry to join inner and outer closure panels. Specializing in electrocoat (e-coat) services, the plant is a leader in the application of class A exterior coatings on aluminum and galvanized substrates for domestic and overseas markets.
