02/05/2013
The firm added 110,000 square feet to its facility for a total of 307,000 square feet. The new space includes 22 truck doors, raising the building’s total number of doors to 51, in addition to two new rail doors for a total of 10. A mechanics shop for forklifts and other systems and a conference room have also been added. The company added 16 employees during construction and is adding seven more now that it is completed.
The Attalla facility features a two-stage ammonia refrigeration system, five blast freezers with a combined capacity of 520,000 pounds daily, equipment to handle all varieties of frozen and refrigerated products and automated order pick services. Located within a few hours of most of the Southeast US, the building also has exporting and packaging services and a USDA-approved inspection room.
“We expanded the Attalla facility with the needs of our customers and their customers in mind, so all of our added capabilities will help them sell more product more efficiently. Millard is honored to have the trust of so many great companies and we are dedicated to ensuring they receive value from our services,” said Tim Smith, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Millard Refrigerated Services. “We greatly appreciate the support we’ve received from the local government in Attalla, as well as county and state government.” Millard’s construction unit designed and built the new space.
