French-Based BOMAG Americas Establishes Headquarters In Fairfield County, South Carolina

Area Development Online News Desk (02/05/2014)
A subsidiary of the French company Fayat, BOMAG Americas, a producer of compaction equipment, milling machines, asphalt pavers and reclaimer-stabilizers for road building and construction markets, will establish its North American headquarters in Fairfield County, South Carolina. The firm’s $18.2 million investment, which includes an assembly operation and showcase room, is expected to bring 121 jobs to the area during the next five years.

The new facility will be constructed at Fairfield Commerce Center, located 3339 East Peach Road, Ridgeway, South Carolina, where the manufacturer will be the first tenant. The facility will comprise approximately 127,600 square feet, with 107,100 square feet representing a spare parts warehouse and assembly area along with 20,500 square feet of office space. BOMAG anticipates breaking ground on the new facility in March with estimated completion in October.

"On behalf of BOMAG Americas, I am pleased to announce this new partnership with South Carolina and Fairfield County. We believe this area offers our company several benefits such as: close to port of entry, proximity to air hub for spare parts fulfillment and a climate conducive to offering year-round sales and service training for our customers. Our intent with this project is to strengthen our North American organization with the objective of being closer as well as better serving our customers,” Walter Link, President of BOMAG Americas said.

"Over the course of the last three years we have seen more than 26,000 new manufacturing jobs announced in South Carolina. We congratulate BOMAG on their announcement of an $18.2 million investment and the creation of 121 new jobs," said Gov. Nikki Haley. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits and a $1.1 million rural infrastructure fund grant for site preparation and infrastructure improvements.

"The successful recruitment of BOMAG Americas is attributed to the teamwork that exists here in the Central SC region. This is a significant economic development announcement, and we are excited for Fairfield County and the opportunities being made available with these outstanding new jobs. This new facility will be the first tenant in the Fairfield Commerce Center, which was the vision of Fairfield County Council and demonstrates real leadership in economic development by being ready for companies when they are in the site selection mode," said Central SC Alliance Chairman Mike Brenan.

"Between our transportation infrastructure, industry-leading work development programs and business-friendly climate, it's no wonder a world-class company like BOMAG chose to locate in the Palmetto State," Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said.
