Drake Enterprises Expands Clinton Township, Michigan Manufacturing Plant

According to company officials, Drake’s Plant 2 is a 38,000 sq. foot building with over 32,000 sq. ft devoted to manufacturing. This plant will focus on our newest core competency Swaging and will be occupied in September of 2018, and fully operational by mid-2019.
Added to its current facility at 24800 Capital Blvd, Drake will now utilize over 118,000 sq. ft of world-class machining and manufacturing, and house over 125 employees on 3 shifts, officials said.
Nate Stemple, President of Drake Enterprises said, “Our expansion is not only to accommodate what we have done but what we are going to do.” The company is focused on manufacturing new and innovative torque transferring products to support its customers’ needs and the changing requirements of Tier 1 and OEM customers worldwide. Keith Stemple, Executive Vice President added that “The new facility is part of our strategic plan and will provide Drake with increased production space, raw material storage, and an extensive Quality Control Laboratory”.
Drake will begin full production in early 2019. Headquartered in Clinton Township Drake has been in business for over 65 years and officials said it is planning for significant growth in the years to come.
The company manufactures specialty products such as gear shift levers and transmission components for the Class 8 heavy-duty truck market. Drake Enterprises is nearing capacity at its facility in Clinton Township and plans to expand into an adjacent facility.
The project is expected to generate a total private investment of $18.9 million and create 125 jobs, resulting in a $750,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. In addition, Clinton Township offered a 50-percent property tax abatement in support of the project.
