Atlas Copco Plans $20 Million Expansion At Its Rock Hill, South Carolina, Manufacturing Plant

03/10/2016
Atlas Copco, an industrial group which develops and manufactures industrial tools and construction equipment, is moving its Medical Gas Solutions Division, along with production and assembly for its U.S. Construction Technique into a new $20 million facility at Riverwalk Business Park in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

To handle the company’s expanded operations in York County, Atlas Copco is constructing a 180,000-square-foot LEED-certified manufacturing and office facility. The building will be located on 34 acres in Riverwalk Business Park, a mixed-use development with easy interstate access and employee-friendly amenities. Construction is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2017.

As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project.

“We have proudly called Rock Hill our home for the past 20 years, because of the city’s resources for economic development of commercial and industrial businesses, as well as its accessibility. This new facility will be one of our flagship sites when it comes to global manufacturing excellence, including Sustainable Productivity, a goal we put forward for ourselves and our customers,” said Atlas Copco Product Company General Manager Martina Schierholz.

“It’s always great news to hear that one of our companies has grown out of their existing facility because it means one of our own has succeeded beyond expectations. Atlas Copco’s decision to invest in a new building and expand operations in York County is a huge win for the company and for Team South Carolina,” said Governor Nikki Haley.
