Energy Company Expanding in Texas

03/11/2008
Panda Energy, Inc. will build, own, and operate a 500-megawatt combined-cycle power plant in an industrial-zoned area of Sherman, Texas. The natual gas-fueled generating station is expected to bring more than $248 million into the area's economy over the next 10 years. The new facility will supply power to the northern part of the state. Company officials say the plant will utilize state-of-the-art technology to keep its air emissions among the lowest in Texas. The plans for the Sherman facility follow the Panda's application last December for a permit to build a similar plant in Temple, Texas, that will supply energy for the central portion of the state. According to company officials, that plant is expected to bring more than $500 million in to the state's economy over the next decade.
