Germany-based Jason Finishing Group Relocates North American Administrative Offices To Richmond, Indiana

03/13/2015
Germany-based Jason Finishing Group, a unit of Jason Industries, Inc. that includes brands in the finishing segment such as Osborn, Jackson Lea, Lippert-Unipol and Sealeze, plans to relocate its North American administrative offices to Richmond, Indiana. The relocation is expected to create up to 34 new jobs by 2015.

Jason Finishing Group, which holds global headquarters in Burgwald, Germany, intends to construct and equip a 7,400 square-foot addition to its existing 180,000 square-foot facility in Richmond. Breaking ground on the addition this year, Jason Finishing Group expects the relocation transition from Ohio to Indiana to be finalized by late spring.

“Jason Finishing Group has had great success in Richmond, which has led to it becoming the hub of our North American manufacturing presence,” said Dr. Florestan von Boxberg, president of Jason Finishing Group. “By consolidating operations here, we are better able to leverage the collective strength of Jason Finishing Group’s U.S. workforce while encouraging greater employee collaboration. We’re excited to continue growing in the state of Indiana.”

The company, which currently has more than 1,500 employees around the world, including more than 360 across the nation and 200 in Indiana, plans to begin hiring for sales, customer service, finance, engineering and marketing positions throughout the year.

“Indiana has developed into a booming home for business,” said Governor Mike Pence. “Companies choose to grow here—and in the case of Jason Finishing Group, move their administrative offices here—because the Hoosier State offers the affordable business climate and skilled workforce they need to thrive. The future is bright for both Osborn International and Indiana, the state that works.”

With the founding of its lead brand, Osborn, in 1887 and with a presence in Richmond since 2004, Jason Finishing Group provides high-quality technical and maintenance brushes, polishing buffs and compounds for hundreds of commercial and consumer applications. Operating in 14 countries, Jason Finishing Group manufactures more than 10,000 standard products and 100,000 custom solutions.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Jason Finishing Group up to $475,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. Wayne County approved additional incentives at the request of the Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County.

"The city of Richmond is extremely excited to welcome Osborn International's North American administrative offices,” said Richmond Mayor Sally Hutton. “We are happy to have Osborn International in our community and are even happier that they are again looking to expand and bring additional jobs and investment to their operation here. We look forward to working with them in the future."
