Two Tech Companies Choose Michigan

Decisions by two high-tech companies to locate in Michigan, will bring the state a combined $6.5 million investment and more than 800 new jobs. MyBuys Inc., a California-based personalized product recommendation service for online retailers, will invest $5.4 million to open an operation in Ann Arbor. More than 600 jobs are expected as a result of the project. State and local incentives of more than $4 million, including tax abatements and rental assistance, have been offered to the company. Also in Ann Arbor, startup company Sakti3 will invest more than $1 million to commercialize a manufacturing process for the development of high-power automotive batteries. The project, a spinoff from research at the University of Michigan, is expected to create up to 230 new jobs. The company has been approved for more than $2 million in state incentives over a 10-year period.
