British-based Serco to Create 125 Jobs in Campbellsville, Kentucky

British-based Serco, a travel and hospitality company that acquired Intelenet Global Services last year, is expanding its services at its Campbellsville, Kentucky, creating 125 jobs. The firm plans to partner global travel with hospitality services for its worldwide clientele.

Serco offers operational, management and consulting services to numerous industries, including aviation, business process outsourcing, defense, education, government, commercial and communications technology.

"We are very excited to witness this expansion in our Campbellsville site," said Steve Sieke, chief executive officer of Serco's American division. "Our clients continue to be impressed with the quality of our workforce and our ability to provide extraordinary service and sales performance to their customers. Our clients have continued to reaffirm their faith in us, which has helped in successfully integrating home agent programs into our mainstream business model." The firm plans to hire a small number of home agent positions for employees who would have an unreasonable distance to commute to Campbellsville.

"I am very excited about the new expansion plans for Serco," said Campbellsville Mayor Tony Young. "They are a tremendous asset to our community. The creation of 125 new jobs adds to the tax base and their growth is certainly a welcomed economic boost to our community. We are so glad they chose Campbellsville for this expansion."

"We're extremely pleased that a company of Serco's worldwide influence would choose to expand operations in the Commonwealth, which is another testament to the competitive quality of the workforce here in Kentucky."

"As we move forward on building our local economy, having the ability to offer full-time jobs with benefits is a key factor in strengthening our employment base," said Rep. John Carney, of Campbellsville. "I'm pleased that Serco has decided to expand their customer service call center, which is a reflection of the confidence they have in our local workforce and the quality of life in our community."

While details on any incentive package offered the firm to expand its call center where not immediately available, the state offers a variety of financial and incentive programs to encourage economic development, business expansion and job creation, ranging from small business loans to tax credits for hiring new employees.
