Fiber Manufacturer Expanding in South Carolina

Ahlstrom Specialty Reinforcement, a manufacturer of specialty fiber products, will buy an existing building and add machinery to expand its business in Bishopville, South Carolina. The $11.7 million investment is expected to nearly double the company's work force, adding 56 jobs to the existing 68. Finland-based Ahlstrom produces engineered fiberglass products for wind energy, marine, and transport industries. "This expansion shows Ahlstrom's commitment to the American fiberglass industry, as well as a commitment to the renewable energy market," says Dan Jonsas, the company's vice president.
