Area Development Online News Desk (05/06/2009)
Metal Technologies Auburn LLC (MTA), a manufacturer of gray iron castings for the automotive, appliance, and construction industries, will invest $1.5 million to expand its foundry in Auburn, Indiana, according to Indiana economic development officials. The company plans to create 32 new permanent positions and 20 temporary jobs by the end of the year. "MTA has a very productive work force, and the business environment in Indiana allows it to be one of the lowest-cost producers in our industry, which is why we are confident in making this investment during challenging times for manufacturing." says Matthew Fetter, the company's president. MTA employs 700 people at four U.S. facilities. The state has offered the company up to $325,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $85,000 in training grants, contingent on job creation; the city will also consider property tax breaks.
