Area Development Online News Desk (06/17/2009)
Two manufacturers in Auburn, Alabama, will expand their existing facilities and add new jobs, according to city officials. Cumberland Plastic Systems, LLC, an assembler of plastic components for automotive manufacturers, will invest approximately $2 million to add more production lines. At least 51 new employees will be hired over the next two years as the company anticipates additional orders from the Kia Manufacturing plant in nearby West Point, Georgia, that is expected to become operational later this year. Cumberland expects to begin hiring next month. Donaldson Company Inc., a producer of filtration products for the automotive, agricultural, and environmental industries, will invest $3.48 million to expand production facilities. The company plans to hire at least 25 new employees with the project. "We are ver pleased to see some growth in our facility in Auburn, especially during this very difficult economic time," says Jim Noreault, plant manager. "We are very pleased to be a part of this area, and this investment solidifies our long-term commitment to our customers and our fine community." Donaldson Company will begin hiring in January 2010. No information was released regarding financial incentives.
