Frito-Lay to Expand Killingly, Connecticut Facility
06/22/2010
"When the state is looking to invest in a company, we take many factors into account, including the depth of the company's commitment to Connecticut's people and communities," said Governor M. Jodi Rell. "Frito-Lay is one business that has shown it is deeply dedicated to the state, its workers and our environment. Expanding its operations here sustains quality jobs that require ongoing training to keep up with Frito-Lay's technology improvements and innovations."
Last year Frito-Lay established an on-site cogeneration system in Killingly that helps to reduce the plant's carbon footprint. The facility services Connecticut and Northeast retailers and exports its products to overseas military locations.
The Urban Act is administered by the state's Department of Economic and Community Development. The Connecticut Development Authority Board of Directors has also approved a $1.5 million tax exemption for construction materials.
