Princeton, Indiana Toyota Facility Hires 100 Workers to Build Highlander SUV
Area Development Online News Desk (06/23/2010)
Toyota will add 100 workers at its Princeton, Indiana facility over the next few weeks, the Evansville Courier & Press reports. The expansion marks a renewed sense of optimism for Princeton. It hasn't hired any workers since 2006, and laid off 370 temporary workers in 2007.

"We're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel," facility spokesperson Kelly Dillon told the Courier. "Things are more positive here at the plant than they have been the last couple of years."

Toyota announced at the beginning of June that it would transfer some production of its Highlander SUV from Japan to Princeton. The Indiana facility will now produce all of Toyota's Highlanders for the North American market.

The positions are temporary and full-time, but they could become permanent if the increased demand is sustained. The employees will be hired through Aerotek, the facility's staffing agency.
