Sumter Easy Home Plans Sumter, South Carolina, Manufacturing Plant

06/23/2017
Sumter Easy Home, a supplier of housewares and other retail goods, is investing $37 million to purchase and equip the 104,000 square foot Black River Spec Building and transform it into a manufacturing hub in Sumter, South Carolina. The development is projected to create 88 new jobs.

“All of us at Sumter Easy Home are excited and grateful to be locating our manufacturing operations in Sumter, S.C. This new facility will help us better service our customers by reducing lead times and controlling costs. Our company has been producing innovative houseware products for more than a decade in Asia, and now, with the support of Sumter County and the state of South Carolina, we’re opening our first U.S. manufacturing facility. We feel as if we’re not just coming to Sumter, we’re coming home,” said Sumter Easy Home LLC CEO Michael Lu.

“Our state’s workforce has proven that it’s one of the best in the world, and that’s why we know Sumter Easy Home will succeed here. We are grateful for the commitment this investment shows in our state and look forward to seeing this great company prosper here for a long time,” said Governor Henry McMaster.

“South Carolina is a leader in foreign direct investment, and Sumter County is increasingly showing our value and ability to attract and sustain businesses that are highly reputable. Easy Home’s move to Sumter is yet another classic example of how our overall leadership, community and workforce agenda intersect and determine the growth of our region,” said Sumter Development Board Chairman Greg A. Thompson.”
