Suntron Corporation Expands Its Manufacturing Facility In Tijuana, Mexico
06/26/2012
Most recently the firm added 27,275 square feet of additional space, including a Class 100,000 clean room, bringing the total square footage of the facility to 106,000 square feet. The firm did not release information about its financial investment or anticipated hiring figures.
The Tijuana facility offers high mix, high reliability electronics manufacturing services. Suntron specializes in printed circuit board assembly, cable and harnesses, and complete boxbuild in Mexico. The addition of large scale systems integration services and clean room capabilities, coupled with Suntron de Mexico's existing ISO13485 certification, will allow the facility to better serve the high-end medical industry and other fields.
"By adding large scale integration within our Low Cost Regional facility in Tijuana, we are positioning ourselves for future growth with a new capability," explained Rod Gunther, Suntron de Mexico Plant Manager. "The additional space will help us better serve our customers, particularly those who are looking to manufacture in a low cost region but desire to be closer to home."
In January, Suntron Corporation signed a 5-year lease to significantly increase its footprint in Tijuana, Mexico from 35,000 square feet to just over 110,000 square feet.
The expansion is strategically located in the Tijuana Industrial Park, just 5 minutes from the U.S. border and is adjacent to one of Mexico's top rated technical universities, the firm said.
Earlier this year Jim Bass, President and CEO of Suntron Corporation, said the "This expansion is critical to being able to continue to provide world class service in a low cost region as we continue to migrate more and more of our customers' high labor content products to our Tijuana facility."
"In addition to significantly increasing our capacity, we are pleased with the facility's close proximity to our U.S. customers and we believe we will be able to attract top technical talent from the nearby university," he added.
