Natural Gas Producer EQT Expanding Kentucky Facility

06/29/2009
EQT Corporation, the largest natural gas producer in the Appalachian basin, will expand its regional headquarters in Pikesville, Kentucky, according to the Kentucky governor's office. The company plans to create at least 100 new jobs with an average annual salary of more than $55,000. The expansion will entail the construction of a new 45,000-square-foot complex in an industrial park that will cater to energy companies. "EQT is pleased to demonstrate its continued commitment to the Kentucky people and economy by undertaking this project," says Murry Gerber, the company's CEO. "A major portion of our reserves are located in Kentucky, and we are proud to play a significant role in Kentucky's quest to become energy-independent by 2025." EQT also has natural gas operations in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. The new Kentucky facility is planned for completion sometime next year. The state will provide EQT Corporation with tax benefits valued at up to $2.5 million.
