Steel Casting Manufacturer Building in Michigan

06/09/2008
Huron Casting, a manufacturer of shell-molded steel castings, will construct a manufacturing plant at its headquarters in Pigeon, Michigan, as part of a $10 million investment. At least 150 new full-time jobs are expected when the 180,000-square-foot steel foundry is completed. The new facility will be owned and operated by Blue Diamond Steel Casting, a fully owned subsidiary of Huron Casting. At full operation, the factory will be able to produce steel castings of up to 2,000 to 3,000 pounds for customers in heavy machinery manufacturing and oil field operations. State and local incentives for the project include a  $1.1 million community development block grant that the company says it will use for water and sewer improvements, as well as nearly $1 million for transportation improvements.
