Adger Solar Plans $100 Million Solar Project In Aiken County, South Carolina
06/09/2017
Active in the southeastern United States since early 2014, Adger Solar is a clean energy development company focused on creating lower-cost, utility-scale, solar-electric generating facilities, with developments underway in multiple South Carolina counties.
The Aiken County solar facility will be located off Edgefield Highway, approximately three miles north of I-20 and will produce 74 MW of energy at full capacity. Expected to be operational by 2019, the project will be able to produce affordable, clean energy to 15,000 homes.
“We are excited to be part of the success story that is utility-scale solar energy in South Carolina. Power from this project will be sold for under four cents per kilowatt-hour, one of the lowest prices for solar seen yet in the state,” Adger Solar Principal William Moore.
“Because this price is fixed over the 20-year purchase contract, it should create significant savings for utility companies and their ratepayers. These long-lived, capital-intensive power projects require close collaboration with our host communities, and we’re grateful for their steady support, including in particular the leadership of Aiken County, whose foresight has helped make this project possible,” he added.
“We are very grateful for Adger Solar and their decision to locate in Aiken County. They are well respected in their industry, and we know they will do great things. Aiken County has a long history of working with sustainable alternative energy, and this further solidifies our reputation as a leader in this field,” said Aiken County Council Chairman Andrew Siders.
