Daimler Trucks Calls 540 North Carolina Employees Back to Work

07/01/2010
Daimler Trucks North America announced yesterday that it will recall 540 workers in North Carolina to two truck production facilities and a logistics plant. The employees will return to work by the middle of the month in Mount Holly, Cleveland, and Gastonia, North Carolina.

Daimler decided to recall the workers after a sharp uptick in 2010 orders. The plants also renegotiated new labor contracts between Daimler and United Auto Workers (UAW).

The truck maker has seen strong order numbers for its EPA10 vehicles. To date, 21,400 EPA10 trucks have been ordered, including 16,565 Freightliner brand trucks. The vehicles have lower emission levels than conventional trucks.
