Hawkeye Industries Expands Tupelo, Mississippi, Manufacturing Plant

07/11/2018
Contract sheet metal fabricator Hawkeye Industries invested $3 million to expanding its manufacturing plant in Tupelo, Mississippi.

Hawkeye Industries metals manufacturing technologies include state-of-the-art laser cutting, punching, forming and welding. The company’s investment includes the addition of new equipment and renovations to its existing facility to accommodate the new laser tube processing line.

According to state officials, the expansion accommodates increased production demand for the company’s core business technologies, as well as its entrance into the high volume laser processing of tubing market.

“This expansion is a natural evolution and fit into the latest in laser cutting technologies to utilize our already proven core manufacturing competencies. In addition, we are re-investing into additional punching technology to better serve our growing economy,” said Hawkeye Industries President & CEO Bryan Hawkins. “We are excited about being able to enhance our many customers’ products and competitiveness and to be an important part of keeping Mississippi great.”

Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for storm water drainage and concrete for the expansion as an incentive. In addition, Lee County and the Tombigbee Water Management District are assisting with erosion containment and repair of an adjacent major creek bank.

Building construction began in April and is now complete. Equipment is being installed and will be ready for initial production startup this month. The addition of the new jobs will increase employment at Hawkeye Industry to approximately 40 workers.

“For more than two decades, Hawkeye Industries has enjoyed success at its Lee County location. Our skilled, dedicated workforce and the fact we are a hard-working manufacturing state allows manufacturing companies like Hawkeye to pursue growth opportunities and create high-tech jobs in North Mississippi,” Governor Phil Bryant said.

“Hawkeye Industries’ success creating new career opportunities in Lee County is another economic development win for North Mississippi,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “The teamwork of our partners at the Community Development Foundation, Lee County and the Tombigbee Water Management District, along with our MDA team, was instrumental in supporting Hawkeye Industries’ achievement of their goals in Tupelo.”
