Solar Cell Maker Solexant Locates in Gresham, Oregon

Solexant, a maker of thin-film solar cells, will build a manufacturing facility in Gresham, Oregon, the Gresham Outlook reports. The company will initially hire 170 employees, with work force numbers growing up to 1,000 people in the coming years.

The California-based company is expected to receive incentives from the state that attract energy efficiency firms. The state plans to extend a targeted loan, as well as an energy tax credit.

City and state officials worked with the company for less than a year to encourage Solexant to locate in Gresham.
