Canadian Manufacturer 5D Composite to Create 120 Jobs With New Facility in FL
07/05/2011
Founded in 2009, the company uses its own patent-pending technology to create and form strong, lightweight composite materials into almost any shape for industrial purposes and consumer products. In Florida, 5D Composite will manufacture uniquely shaped blades for small wind-turbine units for several small wind-turbine systems manufacturers outside the U.S., and also manufacture structure piping used to strengthen foundations.
Sarasota County Government approved a performance-based incentive grant of $100,000 to facilitate the company's relocation.
The new jobs created will be higher wage, technology-oriented jobs in manufacturing and engineering, as well as sales and support positions, said Mark Huey, president and CEO of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County. "This company focuses on innovative technology which has broad applications for a wide range of customers around the world."
Suncoast Workforce is working with the 5D to ensure its workforce needs are met, and is already accepting applications via e-mail for some of the new jobs.
