Chem Firm Opens R&D Center in Delaware

07/06/2007
Paris-based Air Liquide, a manufacturer of industrial and medical gases, has begun operations at its Delaware Research and Technology Center in Newark, Delaware. The company projects that 119 new jobs with minimum salaries of $55,000 will be created by January 2010. State officials expect the center to make a direct contribution of more than $12 million to the state's gross domestic product. R&D is expected to concentrate on areas such as gas production, electronics, healthcare and food processing, and clean energy. The Delaware Economic Development Office awarded Air Liquide a Competitiveness Fund Grant of $476,000 to assist the company with consolidating its U.S. businesses in the state.
