Lockheed Martin Puts $24M into Newtown, Pennsylvania Space Systems Company Expansion

07/06/2010
Lockheed Martin has opened its new Space Systems Company facility in Newtown, Pennsylvania. The $24 million expansion increases the company's manufacturing capacity and its conference center.

The facility's 15,000-square-foot Patriot Center can accommodate large-scale events. A new meeting space holds up to 250 people and includes the latest audio-visual equipment. Lockheed Martin has also added 18,800 square feet to its satellite manufacturing Product Team Building. It assembles GPS components and antennas.

"The new Patriot Center and satellite high bay addition are very tangible demonstrations of Lockheed Martin's commitment to Newtown and to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," said Lockheed Martin's Delaware Valley Operations Vice President Robert Slegelmilch.

The expansion is awaiting LEED certification. Lockheed Martin's Newtown complex is the headquarters of the company's Commercial Space Systems.
