Sikorsky Moves Helicopter Production to Coatesville, Pennsylvania

Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., a maker of helicopters, will close its upstate New York commercial helicopter facility and move to Pennsylvania. Its subsidiary, Schweitzer Aircraft Corp., which is based in Stratford, Connecticut, will move most of its employees to another facility in Big Flats, New York.

Schweitzer will produce its helicopters at Sikorsky's Global Helicopters facility in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, company spokesperson Peter Jackson said. The company employs 1,250 people in Big Flats, but will lay off some of those workers as part of the move.
