Auto Suppliers Expanding in Alabama, Investing $335M

07/09/2008
Kamtek Inc., a Mercedes-Benz supplier and subsidiary of Canada's Magna International Inc., will invest more than $310 million and create 400 new jobs at a stamping plant in Birmingham, Alabama. The existing 460,000-square-foot plant was previously owned by Ogihara Corporation, and Kamtek will retain that company's business and 280 jobs. In Opelika, Alabama, Mando America Corporation will expand its current operation and add 200 new jobs with a $25 million project that will include the construction of an additional building directly across from its current site. The Korea-based company produces brake and steering systems for Hyundai and Kia.
