Food Manufacturer Expanding in Indiana

08/11/2008
Morgan Foods, a manufacturer of consumer foods, will expand its manufacturing facility in Austin, Indiana. The company plans to invest $8 million to add an automated can sterilization system at its 1 million-square-foot plant, creating 20 new jobs. "We are investing in new space and new technology in order to better serve our customers," says John Morgan, president of Morgan Foods, which makes private-label soups, beans, and sauces for major grocery chains. The state has offered the company up to $220,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $200,000 in training grants. Local government agencies will also provide property tax abatements.
