Fleetwood RV Expanding Operations in Indiana, Creating 300 Jobs
Area Development Online News Desk (08/19/2009)
Recreational vehicle manufacturer Fleetwood RV, Inc. will invest $7.4 million to upgrade and expand its manufacturing facilities in Decatur, Indiana, according to the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette. The company plans to hire up to 300 new employees over the next three years as part of the expansion. Fleetwood plans to consolidate its manufacturing operations in California and Pennsylvania to the Decatur facility, and will relocate $8 million in equipment from those operations. "The decision to establish our company headquarters in Decatur was twofold," says John Draheim, Fleetwood's president. "First and most importantly was the high caliber work force in the area, and the second was the cooperation from the state and city to develop a plan that would be best for the company, the local community, and the RV industry as a whole." The state has offered the company up to $9 million in performance-based tax credits and up to $100,000 in training grants, contingent on job creation; the city will also provide property tax abatement.
