$5.6 Million Expansion Project in Lexington, KY, Will Create 75 Jobs at Animal Healthcare Firm
08/03/2011
Founded in 1982, Neogen develops, manufactures and markets a diverse line of products dedicated to food and animal safety. The Lansing, MI-based company It employs over 600 workers in multiple U.S. and international locations. Neogen has had a presence in the community for more than 20 years, and presently employs 130 people at two regional locations. One of those operations will be consolidated into the new Mercer Road facility.
"We're thrilled to be able to stay and grow within Lexington," said Terri Morrical, Neogen's vice president of animal safety. "For quite some time, we had been clearly outgrowing our facilities and we investigated many alternatives, both near and far, to best suit our expanding needs. Working closely with state and local officials, we realized that staying here was our best choice."
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved Neogen for tax incentives up to $2 million through the Kentucky Business Investment program.
"Neogen is one of Lexington's crown jewels, so the company's plans to expand are certainly great news for our community," noted Rep. Jesse Crenshaw of Lexington.
