Arm & Hammer Parent Company Investing $150M in Pennsylvania

Church & Dwight, a manufacturer of consumer products, will invest more than $150 million to build a manufacturing facility in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania governor's office. The project is expected to create approximately 300 new jobs. Groundbreaking has already taken place for the 1.1 million-square-foot plant, which will be LEED certified for environmentally responsible performance measures. The facility will produce Arm & Hammer laundry detergent and serve as a major distribution center for all of Church & Dwight's products in the eastern United States; the company produces the Arm & Hammer brands as well as other trademarked consumer products. "Today we begin work on a new facility with a truly state-of-the-art `green' design, reflecting our company's long-standing commitment to protecting the environment," says James R. Craigie, the company's chair and CEO. "We're proud to now be breaking ground for our first facility in Pennsylvania, and look forward to being part of this community for many years to come." The governor's office says that the New Jersey-headquartered company considered more than 35 sites in six states before choosing the area in York County, and made the decision based in part on proximity to several interstate highways and major rail lines. Incentives offered to Church & Dwight include $3.25 million from the state in grants, infrastructure development funding, tax credits, and job training assistance.
