Telecom Giant Creating Hundreds of Indiana Jobs

09/24/2007
AT&T will add approximately 475 new jobs to its current AT&T Indiana work force, according to a company announcement. Many of these new positions will be centered around the company's Internet Protocol (IP)-based television service that is available in several Indiana cities. According to company officials, the new jobs are the continuing result of AT&T's High Speed to the Heartland initiative, which has brought broadband service to 33 communities throughout the state, many of them rural areas without prior broadband availability. The expansion began in 2006 after the Indiana legislature passed HB 1279, a bill that loosened regulations on telecommunications companies doing business in the state. AT&T has added more than 1,500 new jobs in Indiana since that bill was passed.
