Larson Binkley Engineering Firm Invests $1.2 Million To Relocate To Kansas City, Missouri
09/24/2012
The firm will relocate around 40 existing jobs and anticipates the creation of 26 new positions at an average starting wage of $66,667. The firm will occupy 11,580 square feet at 310 W. 20th Street by the end of October.
"At Larson Binkley, we pioneer new technologies and concepts to serve our clients better," says CEO Chris Larson. "We wanted to join a community that values imagination and invention. Kansas City is that place."
Missouri Economic Development officials said Larson Binkley chose to locate in downtown Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District, a growing hub for innovative companies. The announcement comes just a few weeks after Kansas City-area economic development organizations joined to form Launch KC, an initiative to target new and grow existing companies in the technology and creative industries. Launch KC hopes to provide a data center for entrepreneurs, a district-wide Wi-Fi network, and research and development labs for entrepreneurs and start-up companies.
"I am thrilled Larson Binkley has chosen the Crossroads District as the new home of their headquarters, and I am even more excited about the reasons for their move," said Kansas City Mayor Sly James. "They want to be close to other creative and talented people in a place that celebrates innovation. It is my pleasure to welcome Larson Binkley's employees to the neighborhood and Kansas City."
As an incentive, the state of Missouri has authorized an economic incentive package that includes $1.5 million in Quality Jobs Program tax credits over a five-year period. The Quality Jobs Program provides benefits for companies that create a minimum number of jobs, meet wage requirements and offer health insurance to employees.
