Diaper Manufacturer Investing $6 Million for South Carolina Factory
Area Development Online News Desk (09/29/2009)
Softee Supreme Diaper Corporation, a manufacturer of disposable diaper products, will invest $6 million to locate a facility in Mullins, South Carolina, according to state economic development officials. The company plans to create 262 new jobs over the next four years. Softee Supreme will take over an existing 294,000-square-foot building and begin production by the end of October. "Our company spent considerable time looking for a place for our operations, and Marion County seemed like the perfect fit for us," says Collin Brown, the Georgia-headquartered company's president. "The business environment is excellent, and we will be able to tap into a strong, available labor force." The Charleston Post and Courier reports that the county's unemployment rate in August was 20.9 percent, or approximately 2,000 people. The company will work with the state on screening and training of new employees; no additional information was released regarding incentives.
