British-Owned Aerospace Support Company Expanding in Iowa

01/19/2009
Carleton Life Support Systems, a subsidiary of United Kingdom-based Cobham PLC, will invest $5,4 million to relocate its air-to-air refueling business to Davenport, Iowa, according to the Iowa governor's office. Approximately 65 new jobs are expected with the relocation from California; the Quad City Times reports that the average salary for the new positions will be $29 per hour. The company plans to construct a 35,000-square-foot addition to its existing facility in Davenport to accommodate the new business. The parent company, which has more than 25 operations in the United States, provides manufacturing and support services for the aerospace and defense industries. The Times reports that the company will receive a $325,000 grant from the state, along with tax benefits of approximately $280,000 contingent on job creation.
